General Overview

The focus of the research group is on enterprises, organizations, supply chains and networks of the agri-food sector. It is linked to various national research associations as well as to the European and international associations International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA), European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE), and European Federation for IT in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (EFITA). These three associations roughly mark the range of activities the group is involved in. 

In cooperation with other universities from various countries, it organizes the annual International (European) Forum on System Dynamics and Innovation on Food Networks, also known as Igls-Forum (www.fooddynamics.org).  

Prof. Schiefer is editor of the International Journal on Food System Dynamics (www.centmapress.org) and associate editor or member of the editorial board of various other international journals. 

 He coordinates the International Network for IT in Agriculture (INFITA) (www.infita.org), is in the advisory board of the European Federation for IT in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (EFITA) (www.efita.net/) and chairs the working group on Food Chain Management within the European Technology Platform Food for Life (http://etp.fooddrinkeurope.eu) where he is also member of the board.

 Prof. Schiefer is initiator and coordinator of the research and teaching cooperation with the University of Florida in Gainesville/USA and member of the faculty as “Courtesy Professor”.
